Automotive manufacturer Acura came up with a special wrap to mark the latest stage of the ongoing development of its first all-electric models, as the company seeks to react to a rising demand for vehicles that are kinder to the environment.

Not so long ago, electric cars were seen as something of a gimmick that nobody was really taking very seriously. However, fast-forward to the modern day and the growing focus on protecting the environment has led to a huge spike in demand.

Couple that with the emergence and huge success of major electric car brands such as Tesla, and this demand is only set to grow further over the coming years.

What makes this market so exciting for manufacturers, as well as the companies tasked with wrapping and decorating vehicles with all manner of eye-catching and interesting designs, is that it is not limited to just cars. Lorries, buses, motorbikes and scooters have all moved to the electric market in recent years, opening up all manner of opportunities for companies involved in this area.

One manufacturer seeking to take full advantage of this rising demand is Acura, which has in recent years committed a significant amount of its time to development its first all-electric models. While work on the 2024 ZDX and ZDX Type S performance variant is still ongoing, the project is now at an advance stage, with testing taking place in wo real-world conditions.

“As the brand accelerates toward an electrified future, Type S models will continue to put the driver experience first and will exemplify Acura’s unyielding commitment to delivering on the Precision Crafted Performance brand promise,” Acura said in its most recent update on the project in December 2022.

If the promise of high performance and planet-friendly technology is not enough to draw your attention to the project, then just take a moment to cast your eyes over the wrap that Acura has applied to the ZDX Type S vehicle. Perhaps paying tribute to the world around it and the wildlife vehicles like this is trying to protect, the wrap certainly catches the eye of passers-by,

“Designed at the Acura Design Studio in Southern California, the ZDX will feature many of the styling themes that debuted on the Acura Precision EV Concept during Monterey Car Week last August,” Acura said.

Going into further detail on the cars, the ZDX is being co-developed with General Motors and utilises the highly flexible global EV platform powered by Ultium batteries. Following the roll out of the first model, Acura plans to also launch additional EV models starting in 2026 based on the company’s own global e:Architecture.

The ZDX will be Acura’s first zero-emissions SUV and the name pays homage to a previous Acura model of the same name, which was the first vehicle styled from the ground up in the Acura Design Studio, which opened in Los Angeles in 2007. The new ZDX is now being styled in the same Acura Design Studio.

Acura’s first zero emission production model, the 2024 ZDX and ZDX Type S will be officially unveiled this year.
