Patriotic wrap celebrates service dogs

US-based vehicle graphics specialist Advertising Vehicles recently created an eye-catching wrap that paid tribute to the work and impact of service dogs on war veterans in the country.

Louie Belluomini is a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, and suffered from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and damage to his hip, which made everyday life difficult. After therapy and medicine failed to ease these issues, he turned to K-9s for Warriors, a specialist provider of service dogs in Ohio.

Here, Belluomini met his service dog Star, who has since become his faithful companion, helping him with everyday tasks and even playing an important role with his work.

Belluomini has been working as a paramedic for more than 13 years and has served with the Ohio Ambulance since March 2021. Star accompanies Belluomini in the ambulance and is often the first on scene, where, as a scent-trained dog, she can help begin the search for people requiring help before police dogs arrive.

Belluomini was keen to do something to celebrate Star and the work she has done since joining him as part of the team at the Ohio Ambulance. He came up with the idea of a special wrap for his Ohio Ambulance K-9 EMS response unit to promote Star and the K-9s for Warriors unit.

After reaching out to Advertising Vehicles with a basic design for the vehicle, the company offered to upgrade the wrap for free, creating a colourful wrap that can now be seen on the streets of Ohio,

“Louie had these great ideas, and it was for such a good cause that we had to find a way to upgrade their project to a clever partial wrap design to achieve his goals,” Advertising Vehicles account executive Adam Parrock said. “After seeing what we completed, it was worth it to have done what we did for Louie, Star and Ohio Ambulance.”

Belluomini was keen for the design to be patriotic, and, in response, Advertising Vehicles came up with a wrap featuring an American flag, a silhouette of Star, prominent logos of Ohio Ambulance and skylines of both Cincinnati and Cleveland.

“The pictures that we had of the layout was phenomenal,” Belluomini said. “To see it first-hand is breath-taking, the pictures just don’t do justice to what it looks like in person.”

Ohio Ambulance provides 24-hour emergency and non-urgent care, offering its services to skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, hospice organisations, home health care agencies, dialysis facilities, free standing emergency departments and retirement communities, while it also works with many major health plans and physician groups.
