Justin Pate is passionate about wrapping. He has wrapped anything that can be wrapped, particularly vehicles, with over 3100 completed over his 20-year career. He began installing in New York City in 1996 then moved to Amsterdam in 2007.
In 2011, Justin began teaching workshops full time. He teaches hands-on workshops for Avery Dennison North America and created their certification program.
In 2014, Justin started The Wrap Institute which is the world’s number one online resource for how to wrap videos. TWI is a neutral platform and works with all the manufacturers, distributors and sign shows worldwide.
TWI has over 2300 videos and strives to come out with 5 new videos a week. The video library content is constantly evolving which fits perfectly with the TWI slogan, “Never Stop Learning!™”
In 2020, Justin partnered with Rainer Lorz and Pascal Braker to expand the company. TWI now partners at sign shows with ISA, Wrapscon and, as of this year, FESPA to put on large scale demos and wrap contests. TWI also hosts streaming events for manufacturers and distributors to help them showcase their products in a professional manner.
What is the coolest item you have wrapped?
Just recently The Wrap Institute was hired to do a wrap rejuvenation for Cover Styl’ at my home in Amsterdam. I cannot begin to express how amazing the transformation has been both in terms of the look but also how easy it was to do compared to a normal renovation. I can’t wait for this series to come out so everyone can see it.
What would you like to wrap that you haven’t wrapped yet?
I have always wanted to wrap a commercial airliner. I fly so much and I think it would be so cool to wrap something that big then fly in it.
How would your friends describe you in 5 words?
Loyal, open, funny, honest, sexy (the last one was a dad joke)
What do you like to do when you are not wrapping?
Our family all love to travel so when I’m not teaching or making videos, I love to go on trips with my wife and daughter either by air or car. I love to explore new cities and countries with them and try out new foods and cultures. They are the perfect traveling partners so its always fun and exciting.
