Sara Katila was the only woman competing in the World Wrap Masters Finland 2020 and beat her competitors and won the title of World Wrap Master of Finland 2020. The competition took place on 11th and 12th March 2020 during Sign, Print and Pack Finland 2020 in Helsinki. The exhibition was organised by AGI Publishing House and Print&Media and covered wide format printing and signage.
World Wrap Masters Finland 2020 sponsors included Hexis and AGI Publishing House. Hexis provided the vinyl materials and AGI Publishing House have sponsored €800 towards the travel and accommodation for the World Wrap Master of Finland 2020, Sara Katila. Otto Riikonen acted as FESPA Finland's judge.

Sara initially visited the Sign, Print and Pack exhibition in 2018 and watched the wrapping competition and was determined to compete in the future and decided to compete in this year’s competition.

Sara has 5 years of wrapping experience and was the only woman in the competition. Sara commented: “I was very nervous because it was my first competition and I had never used the tape material that was provided before, that’s probably why the first wrapping round did not go too well but I am a fast learner and quickly adapted. I knew the other competitors were from big companies. I was the only woman in the competition this year and the only woman in the final! I am very proud that I reached the final and won, I am very proud of my achievement!”
The competitors that register for the World Wrap Masters competitions are predominantly men however FESPA always encourages women to compete. Sara will be the only woman competing in the World Wrap Masters Final 2020 at the Global Print Expo 2020 in Madrid 2020 on the 8th October 2020. Sara comments: “Our Prime Minister is the youngest female Prime Minister in the world, so I figure if she can do her job then I am confident as the only woman competing at in the final that I can bring the trophy home. I have had the best mentor who has supported me in my wrapping career, Jarmo Heinonen. He has always taught me that quality is key when wrapping. I want to be a good example for women in the industry. I am going to compete in the final with an open mind and bring all my knowledge to the competition.
The World Wrap Masters connects and celebrates the best wrap installers in the world and has competitions in Europe, Brasil, Asia, Mexico, Africa and more. Sara describes the importance of such competitions: “Wrapping brings people together and it is great that these competitions are arranged. All the competitors are different types of people from different backgrounds with different interests. But each competitor has their own style, so it is interesting to see the different techniques that each person has, the World Wrap Masters competitions provides the opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a wrapper.”
