Ahead of the FESPA World Wrap Masters Europe 2021, we caught up with guest MC Ole Sunshine Ravn to find out about his involvement in the competition and his hopes for the event.
Hello Ole! It’s fantastic to have you as a judge at the FESPA World Wrap Masters Europe 2021. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your time working in the wrapping market?
Next year, I will celebrate the 30-year anniversary of my company AROS Skilte A/S (AROS Signs A/S). And what a journey is has been for us! Over the past eight or nine years, we have completely changed the way we operate; in short, we have downscaled our company and I now run it with my wife.
Nowadays, I only work four days a week and my wife three days; we simply just want to have more time off and use it on our two daughters, one son and, since recently, our very first grandson!
That said, at AROS Skilte we still decorate and wrap more than 2,000 vans every year for major companies such as Europcar and Danish Postal (Postnord).
Outside of AROS Skilte, two years ago I took some time away from the company to travel the world to carry out training for wrapping and window tinting, visiting 87 countries in the process!
Fantastic, congratulations on the birth of your grandson! Looking to the World Wrap Masters Europe, how did you come to be involved in the competition?
In 2008, I was asked to judge the first ever edition of World Wrap Masters. Then, in 2011, Duncan MacOwan at FESPA asked me to help out with a redesign of the competition and I have served as head judge until 2019.
I am incredibly humbled to have had the chance to work with the amazing team at FESPA. I have learned so much from the ladies and gentlemen at this fantastic association.
You obviously value the competition highly. How important do you think the World Wrap Masters is to the industry?
The FESPA World Wrap Masters series is THE wrap event for the world. It is the event that has the respect of the most important people in the industry.
That said, there is always room for improvement, and I look forward to where the event will go next.
How much are you looking forward to being involved with the final this year?
It’s probably fair to say that I am a little torn. On the one hand, I am now an old, retired man that wants to follow the next generation from a distance. However, on the other hand, as there are so many new techniques coming through and lots of new installers, I’ve never been more ready to meet them!
We cannot wait to have you back again! What are your main hopes for the event?
Hope is the key word! I hope that the FESPA World Wrap Masters Europe 2021 can show that there is a light at the end of the tunnel that we have all been stuck in the past couple of year.
I think if we can all give a little extra, then we can make sure the FESPA World Wrap Masters can help the FESPA Global Print Expo 2021 bring a tidal wave of energy to the signage and screen print world.
Finally, why should companies consider entering the FESPA World Wrap Masters in the future?
Why do we upgrade our computer? Why do we get a health check? To enter the event is an upgrade.
Let us all together show that we are on the way back to normal and this year’s show will be great!
